AI GLOSSARY

Black Box Model

A black box model is an AI or machine learning model whose internal workings are not easily interpretable or transparent to the user. While it can produce accurate predictions or decisions, the logic behind its outputs is difficult to explain, making it challenging to understand how specific inputs lead to particular outputs. These models are often contrasted with more explainable models, which offer greater transparency and interpretability.
