The Intelligent Application of Machine Learning in Defence

The rapid and dislocating advances in LLMs and foundation models has dominated the AI agenda over the past three years. This article steps aside from the rhetoric and explores what the intelligent application of machine learning looks like for Defence and National Security; why language and words matter, why domain expertise matters as much as data, and why working out what you want to achieve is equally important as what tools you select.
